Dedicated, Accessible and Affordable Clinical Research Space

We offer inpatient and outpatient clinics, conveniently located in and near Brigham and Women's Hospital, that are dedicated to clinical research. CCI facilities and research services are available to BWH research investigators and industry collaborators translating promising clinical research ideas into successful protocols and results.

Outpatient Clinics

Outpatient clinics are located across the BWH campus.

Inpatient Units

Our inpatient unit is on the main campus along the BWH Pike.

Phlebotomy and Lab Processing

Phlebotomy stations are located at all of our clinical locations.

Nutrition Kitchens

Nutrition consultations and food pickups can be scheduled at any of our clinical locations.

Administrative Support

We will help you navigate BWH research resources, from start to finish.

Outpatient Clinics

Our outpatient clinics provide clinical exam rooms and expanded working space for study teams including consult rooms, conference rooms, and touchdown workstations and work area for study monitors.

The outpatient units also offer laboratory simple processing facilities, phlebotomy chairs, and locked and refrigerated short-term drug storage. These units are staffed by Nurse Practitioner, Physician’s Assistant, registered nurses, phlebotomist/laboratory technicians, and nutrition consultants.

All of these facilities and staff are available via our direct scheduling system to all research teams that have approved applications with the CCI.

The ACC offers 5 exam rooms nearby to endocrine and sleep medicine, and an easily accessible location with valet parking at 221 Longwood Ave. This unit is ideal for visits including consenting, questionnaires, phlebotomy, nursing OGTTs, injections, and infant follow-ups.

The CTC offers 4 exam/infusion rooms convenient to many clinics in the main hospital with a location on the BWH Pike. The CTC is ideal for interventional study visits and drug infusions clinical trials.

The CTH hosts 3 exam rooms and an infusion bay with 3 suites located in the Building for Transformative Medicine, nearby neurology and rheumatology research practices. This modern unit supports interventional study visits and drug infusions clinical trials.

Inpatient Tower 9AB Units

The inpatient space is located on the 9th floor of the hospital tower and includes 6 inpatient bed units (Tower 9A) and 5 intensive physiologic monitoring bed units (Tower 9B) with environmental standardization of temperature, light, and outside stimuli. These units are staffed by registered nurses, research technicians, patient care assistants, ultrasound technician, and nutrition consultants.

Nursing staff provide assessment and monitoring, infusions, IV placement, timed bloods, OGTTs, collaboration with BWH Investigational Drug Service, investigational drug administration, and patient education in both outpatient and inpatient units, and off-site as well. Research Technicians support inpatient visits providing specialized physiological monitoring, temperature monitoring, vitaport, timed bloods, and specimen collection.

Tower 9A units are available for inpatient studies as well as outpatient procedures that require more than 12 hours of intense nursing support.

Tower 9B boasts start-of-the-art technology to monitor subjects for studies requiring environmental standardization.

Phlebotomy and Laboratory Processing

The Center for Clinical Investigation provides phlebotomy services, automated BP/HR/O2 Sat/RR/ECG, specimen collection, specimen processing, simple processing facilities, short term specimen storage and shipping.

Ancillary support is available with preferred rates with Quest, BRAC Labs, or BWH Stat Labs.

Our experienced registered dietitian team employs innovative technologies and resources in support of metabolic and nutrition research throughout study design, implementation, compliance, and manuscript development.

Administrative Offices

The CCI administrative team works with investigators on protocol resource planning and pricing, ancillary support pricing, resource application guidance, application guidance, site implementation guidance, scheduling support, as well as help navigating the BWH research community.

The CCI continues to expand resource accessibility for research activities being conducted in clinical units throughout the hospital. The CCI’s mid-level practitioners, registered nurses, nutrition professionals, laboratory technicians and research coordinators are available to support research activities being pursued in BWH hospital departments and divisions.
